ITV4 have confirmed the commission of three brand new shows – McNab’s Tour of Duty, Real prison Breaks, and Vinny Jones’ Toughest Cops
In ‘McNab’s Tour of Duty’, one of the most decorated members of the British services, Andy McNab, uses his unparalleled knowledge and experience to tell the real story of British and American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Featuring exclusive Ministry of Defence footage, User Generated Content from the troops on the front line and reconstructions and interviews with serving personnel, McNab’s Tour of Duty goes behind the lines of two of the most intense wars fought by British troops since World War Two. McNab’s Tour of Duty is a Flashback Television Production for ITV4.
McNab said “Whatever you think about the rights and wrongs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, what our soldiers are doing there is remarkable and is making history. This series for ITV4 will tell the real stories of real courage and bravery in the theatre of war.”
Narrated by Philip Glenister, Real Prison Breaks investigates cases from across the world, including escapes from notorious institutions including Alcatraz, The Maze, and The Katingal Special Security unit, Australia’s so called ‘escape-proof jail’. Featuring exclusive interviews with the felons, as well as eye witness accounts and insight from the professionals, it explores some of the most incredible stories of prisoners on the run. Real Prison Breaks is a Southern Star production for ITV4.
In Vinnie Jones’ Toughest Cops, the actor and legendary football hardman presents a series investigating the extremes the world’s police forces have to go to in order to maintain law and order. The programme features exclusive access to forces’ operations as they look to crack some of the world’s most severe crime hot-spots including Bogata, Kingston, and Odesso in the Ukraine, as well as domestic operations in the UK. Vinnie Jones’ Toughest Cops is a Zig Zag production for ITV4.
All three shows were commissioned by ITV Commissioning Editor Diana Howie, for ITV4 Controller Dave Fewings. Fewings said “These exclusive shows reflect ITV4’s new remit - action packed programming for men. They all explore dynamic subjects, fronted by men who personify the channel’s direction.”
