Coronation Street newbie, Jack Ellis has admitted that he had never watched the soap opera before being offered the job.

“I must admit I’d never watched an entire episode ever,” Jack told the Sunday Mirror. “I really liked it and thought it was very funny. That was one of the main reasons why I took the job.”

“Before I took the job on the Street, I was offered a part in EastEnders, but the role was too similar to what I had been playing,” he explained. “EastEnders had what Bad Girls had, a lot of confrontation. Coronation Street is different. Its sense of humour is more my cup of tea, which is why I said yes.”

Jack will appear on our screens tomorrow night as bookie Harry Mason.
