Jaime Winstone to play a stripper in new C4 drama, Run
Actress Jaime Winstone, who’s starred in Dead Set and Agatha Christie’s Poirot – as well as movies Kidulthood and Bullet Boy – has been cast alongside Olivia Colman in a new Channel 4 series entitled, Run.
Focusing on the seedy world of strip clubs, the series is currently being filmed in London, and will also star Lennie James as a former heroin addict who’s trying to rebuild his life.
The four parter will tell the stories of four seemingly unconnected characters, and in it, Colman will play the part of a struggling mum, while Jaime’s character is stripper Tara…
Run’s synopsis adds, “[Tara is] a night-club stripper who discovers that that her Polish boyfriend, Tomek, has been killed in a vicious attack. Even worse, the news is delivered to her by Kasia, Tomek’s partner. Left alone to face the tangle of debts and chaos which Tomek has left in his wake, Kasia struggles to find the strength to survive. And perhaps to run.”
Of Run, Sophie Gardiner, the Commissioning Editor at C4 said, “Channel 4 has a proud history of developing new drama talent both on and off screen and we are delighted to be continuing in that tradition with Run, a beautifully authored and original series about a strand of British life rarely seen on our screens.”
Katie Leung of Harry Potter fame will also star in the drama which is expected to air later this year.
