Speaking in the run up to the launch of his new Channel 4 TV show, Jamie At Home, Jamie Oliver has been urging his fans to go green and grow their own vegetables.
“I want to let people know it doesn’t matter where you live, you can still grow your own stuff,” he explained. “It’s about having a go. It can be in a bucket or a boot, a window box, a small or big garden.”
“Getting kids involved in growing and cooking fresh food is the best way to not get them hooked on junk.”
However, Oliver conceded it was not always easy growing your own: “My first attempts at growing veg were chaotic.
“What I’ve tried to do with gardening is what I did with food in the Naked Chef - take the mystery out. I wanted to show people how easy it is.”
