Jason Derulo races to the top of the Official Singles Chart knocking Katy Perry off

On Wednesday you’ll remember that during the Official Charts Update we reported that Jason Derulo would set to knock Katy Perry off the top of the Official Singles Chart with his new single ‘Talk Dirty’.

According to information released by the Official Charts Company we can reveal that indeed Jason Derulo is Number 1 and top of the charts this week.

Jason Derulo will indeed be celebrating as his new single which features 2 Chainz ‘Talk Dirty’ has knocked Katy Perry and ‘Roar’ off the top spot after just two weeks.

‘Talk Dirty’ gives Jason Derulo his third UK Number 1 and over the last seven days the track has sold nearly 160,000 copies making it the fastest single of his career in the UK.


While it is the second single to be lifted from his third album ‘Tattoo’s the track has also become the fourth fastest selling single of 2013 so far.

Talking to OfficialCharts.com after hearing the news he said: “Talk Dirty is Number 1? Heeeeeelll yeah!”

“My new album is not even out yet and already making history because of you! Thank you for your continued support, I’m gonna have to move to the UK in a minute!”

So while Katy Perry falls into Number (3) with ‘Roar’, Jessie J is new in this week at Number (3) with ‘It’s My Party’ which is the second single from her second album ‘Alive’ which will be available from tomorrow.


‘Counting Stars’ by OneRepublic falls two places into Number (4) this week while Avicii takes two spots in the Top 10 this week with ‘You Make Me’ (his new single) completes the Top 5 and ‘Wake Me Up’ is at Number (6).

Looking elsewhere in the Official Singles Chart this week Jasmine van den Bogaerde or Birdy debuts at Number (16) this week with ‘Wings’ which is taken from her second album ‘Fire Within’.

Katy Perry scores yet another Top 40 hit with ‘Dark Horse’ which is taken from her forthcoming album ‘Prism’. The track was only released on Tuesday and debuts this week at Number (21).


‘A Light That Never Comes’ by Linkin Park and Steve Aoki enter the Top 40 this week at Number (34) while Chvrches score their highest charting single so far with ‘The Mother We Share’ which is at Number (38).
