Far beneath an ancient country house, in long-forgotten chambers, Claire Jackman discovers the truth about her husband. A storm gathers – Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde are coming, as Steven Moffatt’s dark and modern take on the Robert Louis Stevenson classic reaches its climax.
Carver, a mercenary without equal, has been offered a blank cheque to bring Hyde in. In the big country house, Syme descends in an old-fashioned lift to a dusty, forgotten gentleman’s club. There are six floors hewn deep into the ancient building’s foundations – hell is on the lowest floor. They are hiding a secret; the building needs to be a fortress and a trap for a man who can rip out a lion’s throat.
Claire and the children are exhausted. Claire demands to be called Mrs Hyde, when a plump, cheery nurse offers the boys bacon for breakfast. But there is no breakfast and her boys have been taken from her. As she hears their cries, the nurse injects Claire with a sedative.
Lurking deep beneath the country house, Sophia draws on a pink cigarette: “Do you want to know the truth about your husband? About Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and how they came back from the dead?” The answers are eventually revealed – answers more shocking than either Claire or Tom could ever have ever imagined.
