Jeremy Clarkson’s ex-wife on “terrifying” injunction
Last year, we reported that Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson had rescinded an injunction that he acquired to stop his ex-wife, Alex Hall, from publishing a tell-all book about her marriage to the star.
And today, the PA report that Hall described the injunction as “terrifying”, though unless it lurked behind a bush then jumped out and yelled “Boo!” I personally can’t see what’s terribly scary about it.
However, while giving evidence to the Joint Committee on Privacy and Injunctions, Ms Hall revealed that her marriage to Jeremy ended before he was famous, but she added that she “maintained a relationship” with him.
She then told the committee that she had made plans to write a book “about the effects of having a relationship with a celebrity” and she informed Jeremy that she was going to do so…
Ms Hall then added, “About a week later there was an injunction on me. He said, ‘I won’t have anyone write anything about me’.
“I had no idea about what to do with this injunction, it was just terrifying.”
When Jeremy later withdrew the injunction – which he described as “pointless” – Ms Hall claimed that taking it out in the first place had been “hugely cavalier” on his part.
Ms Hall went on to stress that it had never been her intention to publish “salacious details” about their marriage, and his instead intended to pen “a witty self-help book”.
She said, “He was very worried about his relationship with his current wife, given I still had an association with him, which she probably did not know about.”
And I’m sure that little factoid would never have made it into the book would it…
