BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge is a personal favourite of mine. It’s a time when musicians from a variety of genres pop into the studio and record a cover of a song by someone else or they sometimes play a track of their own but as you haven’t heard it before.
The Live Lounge has been running since 2006 with a compilation album being released each year with the artists who took part. The live lounge is making a return again this year with names such as Jessie J and Justin Timberlake taking part.
As we said the Live Lounge has been around since 2006 and some of the names who have already taken part include Lana Del Rey, Olly Murs, Stooshe, Ed Sheeran, Editors, Queens of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys to name a few.
Next month though the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge will be celebrating their ‘Even More Music’ campaign so these performances which will run through most of September are being dubbed as ‘special’.
Jessie J fans will be able to hear their idol perform live on the 19th of September while fans of former *NSYNC heart throb can see their favourite hit the airwaves on the 23rd of September.
BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge will also see performances from Arctic Monkeys, Ellie Goulding, Queens of the Stone Age and Kings of Leon.
The annual iTunes Festival takes place throughout September and many of these performances will coincide with each other.
The line-up for the festival has already been revealed with Lady Gaga opening the festival on the 1st of September and Katy Perry closing on the 30th of September.
The festival is completely free and all you have to do to get a ticket is to visit your favourite artists page at http://www.itunesfestival.com and ‘Enter to Win’.
On September 2nd it has also been confirmed that Fearne Cotton will return to BBC Radio 1 following the birth of her son Rex.
