Another victim in the Jimmy Savile case has come forward claiming that not only was she molested by the former Top Of The Pops star from the age of 11, but that the abuse took place in a hospital chapel, during mass!
According to reports in today’s Sun newspaper, Savile, who has been accused of child abuse spanning 6 decades after a recent Channel 4 Exposure programme highlighted his paedophilic behaviour, would prey on Samantha Brown in a room behind the congregation, whilst leaving the door open so he could still watch the priests service!
Jimmy notoriously volunteered as a porter in the Children’s ward of several hospitals whilst at the height of his fame, using his charity contributions as a convincing cover, all the while the real reason being much more sick and sinister!
Samantha commented to the publication that she thinks the fear of getting caught added to the thrill of the Jim’ll Fix It star, commenting:
“He thought he was God. He did it every time he was in there — more than 20 times over three or four years until I was 15.”
Samantha lived near the Buckinghamshire hospital where it is alleged that this abuse took place, whilst Savile was a volunteer porter. Her Catholic family regularly worshipped at the chapel, and she was even honoured enough to be given the prestigious task of handing round the collection plate, which meant that she had to go to the back of the room to get it.
She continued: “Savile used to stand in the separate little room during Mass — and I had to go in there to get the offering plate while the service was going on. It was horrible. I used to hate it.”
She went on to say how heart used to sink when she saw Savile’s £20 donation, a lot of money in the 70’s when this is alleged to have happened, commenting:
“It was a lot of money in those days.
“I knew what was going to happen before I walked through the door. I just tried to get in and out as quickly as possible.”
Samantha went on to describe how Savile would grope and touch her “everywhere” recalling: “It was so blatant it made you even more afraid to say anything.
“I thought it was my fault. Eventually I stopped going to church because of him.”
Having kept her secret for the best part of 30 years, Samantha finally found the strength and courage to come forward with her allegations after watching the Exposure show, which had statements from victims and witnesses alike, as well as testaments from household names such as Coleen Nolan and Esther Rantzen.
Samantha said: “It was only after everything started to come out that I could tell for the first time.
“It completely destroyed my trust in human relationships.”
Meanwhile, the hospital where this abuse allegedly took place, commented: “We have no record of any complaints of this nature and would have taken swift and decisive action if this had formally been raised with us.”
The news of Jimmy Savile’s allegedly sordid past has caused shockwaves throughout the industry, but has not surprised everyone, anyone who knew him in fact.
Last night Paul O’Grady told how Savile was banned from being alone on a girls’ ward at Conny Home care home in West Kirby, Merseyside which housed disabled and abused children in the 70’s, recalling that: “Some of the house mothers were told not to let him on the girls’ unit unsupervised.”
