John Simms and Catherine Tate are all set to make a return to Doctor Who next year according to The Sun.

John Simms will reprise his role as The Master, with Tate returning as Donna for one of next years four planned Doctor Who special.

A show source told The Sun: “Fans will be delighted to see Catherine back. She was one of the wackiest companions of all time and she brought heaps of humour.

“And it’s great to have John back — he and David Tennant have a real nemesis chemistry.”

Donna was last seen on the show having her memory wiped, but the source insisted that this won’t stand in her way of returning.

“Anything can happen in Doctor Who. His assistants are always recurring and Donna is no exception. When you’re a Time Lord you can go back to any point in history and meet whoever you want.”
