Tonight on BBC One’s Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, first lady of British fashion Dame Vivienne Westwood says she hates the modern world.

“Parents should stop their kids playing with computers, make them do something more interesting.

“I don’t like music, I think it’s brain damage, I can’t stand non-stop distraction at all, it’s a major problem.

“I never read magazines, I just can’t bear it, there’s nothing to read in there.

“We need a new ethic, it’s the only thing that will save us from disaster.”

Looking back at her punk past, she says: “It’s great to see young kids trying to look different but if you’re still a punk when you’re 30, there’s something wrong with you!

“It would be difficult to do anything with such an impact ever again, my opinions now are poles apart from then.”

And Jonathan models her own design of underpants.

Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell says he could never hack ballet: “The reality is, I suck at ballet dancing. My favourite is tap. We had no idea what we were getting into [with Billy Elliot] … I’ve never been offered another dancing role.”

Jonathan also chats to Ashes To Ashes star Philip Glenister who is surprised women like his alter ego (Gene Hunt): “It’s definitely not me but the character they find attractive, you’d think they’d find him repulsive … the Daily Telegraph said Gene Hunt should be Prime Minister!”
