Jonathan Ross Suspended For Three Months & Quits British Comedy Awards

BBC TV presenter, Jonathan Ross has been suspended from the Channel for three months without pay, after his recent prank call scandal.

Director general Mark Thompson branded Ross’s actions “utterly unacceptable”, adding that he should take it as a “final warning”.

Thompson stated: “He absolutely overstepped the mark.”

“A 12-week suspension is an exceptional step, but I believe it is a proportionate response to Jonathan’s role in this unhappy affair.”

“I believe that he fully understands the seriousness of what has happened.

“We agree that nothing like this must ever happen again and that tight discipline will be required for the future.”

It has also just been revealed that Jonathan Ross has stepped down from presenting the British Comedy Awards on ITV in January as he will still be under suspension from the BBC.

Russell Brand who was embroiled in the scandal with Ross has already resigned from his Radio 2 show along with the controller of BBC Radio 2, Lesley Douglas.

Douglas said the decision to leave her job was “mine and mine alone” and was made with “enormous regret”.
