Joss Whedon’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’ given green light by ABC
Joss Whedon’s new series – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D promises to be epic, and what’s more, it has been given the green light by the bosses over at ABC HQ.
The show which follows agent Phil Coulson as he leads an elite team, was rumoured to be nearing the end of talks earlier this week, which has resulted in the show being picked up for one season.
The team which Coulson must follow includes combat and espionage expert, Grant Ward martial artist Melinda May, computer hacker Skye and scientists Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons.
ABC is set to broadcast a “first look” at the series this evening before the season finale of Once Upon a Time.
Whedon, show creator has said that the show will follow the same “visual style and ethos” with Marvel’s movies.
Meanwhile, as we reported yesterday, the network has dropped (what could have been highly successful) sitcom, Happy Endings. The series hit its lowest audience in January and was subsequently shoved in an unpopular Friday night slot – and the network wonder why it underperformed.
Moving on, the network has renewed 11 of its other shows including long-running medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy. Grey’s Anatomy and Modern Family will return for their tenth and fifth seasons, respectively.
Revenge, Once Upon a Time, Scandal and Castle will all also return along with The Middle and Last Man Standing.
