On Thursday 17th December 2009, London will play host to an epic Guinness World Record attempt as Covent Garden comes to a standstill for the ‘Most Coins Flipped Simultaneously’ in Heads or Tails: The Big Flip. Participants are expected to flock to the West Piazza at 10am laden with loose change where Justin Lee Collins, host of FIVE’s new game show, Heads or Tails, will compere the proceedings and join in with the synchronised spectacle.

The Big Flip is being organised by FIVE to celebrate the launch of new game show, Heads or Tails, presented by Justin Lee Collins. FIVE will follow the Guinness World Record attempt with a live giveaway of £1,000 to one lucky participant.

Families, students, locals, commuters and members of the public who want to have some festive fun and be part of a Guinness World Record attempt are all invited to flex their thumbs and take part in The Big Flip. There will be an opportunity to pre-register for a place by looking on the FIVE website or simply turn up at the West Piazza in Covent Garden. The first 100 people to show up on the day will receive a limited edition, commemorative t-shirt.

Heads or Tails is a new, primetime, 11-part series which gives members of the public the chance to become a millionaire on the toss of a coin. Friends, family and celebrity guests can be called on to help the player make simple but agonising choices, but with just one coin, one player and one call to win £1million. Airing nightly on FIVE from Sunday 20th December and including a celebrity special, Heads or Tails is a Christmas treat full of suspense guaranteed to have you glued to your sofa.

Heads or Tails host, Justin Lee Collins said: “I can’t wait for the British public to go flipping crazy and hopefully, with their help we will manage to set a new Guinness World Record – bring it on! Heads or Tails is one of the best shows I have done and I hope the viewers will enjoy watching it as much as I did making it.”

Richard Woolfe, Channel Controller of FIVE, comments: “Heads or Tails is a unique format which is all about taking a risk, which is what FIVE likes to do. We’re appealing to everyone, young and old, to come down to take part in this exciting event, and we hope people will enjoy becoming part of a Guinness World Record attempt and being in with a chance to win £1,000 in time for Christmas.”

Heads or Tails: The Big Flip will take place at 10am, Thursday 17th December, 2009.
