Kate Garraway’s ex lands GMTV top job

There’s sure to be some awkwardness in the GMTV studios shortly when Kate Garraway’s ex-husband, Ian Rumsey, takes over as editor of the show.
The Daily Mirror reports that Kate is said to be upset that Rumsey was given the job, and a show source told the paper that his landing the post caused, “a few raised eyebrows.”
Kate and Rumsey split in 2002 following rumours that he’d been unfaithful to her several times. She’s since gone on to remarry and have two children with husband Derek Draper.
The source added, “It’s a bit embarrassing for Kate to be reporting to someone she was involved in a messy split with.”
However, Rumsey has issued a statement about his new job in which he praised Kate and stated that she is “enormously experienced and talented.”
