Katy Perry says fourth album will be more acoustic sounding

Katy Perry is due to release her third studio album ‘Prism’ next month (yes she had an album out before she went under the name ‘Katy Perry’) but she’s already talking about her fourth album.

‘Prism’ is due to be released on the 22nd of October and will feature the single ‘Roar’ and the track ‘Dark Horse’ which has only been released as a promotional track, not a new single

The beauty has spoken about her future and has said that for her next album she wants to return to where it all began when she was ‘Katy Hudson’.

Back then, when the self titled album ‘Katy Hudson’ was released it had a more acoustic sound to what we’re used to and by the sounds of things that’s where the ‘California Gurl’ wants to return following ‘Prism’.

Speaking with Billboard.com Katy said:

“I’ll probably turn into more of a Joni Mitchell. As I inch towards my 30s, I think my fourth record will be more of an acoustic guitar album.”

“That’s where I started when I was first discovered by Glen Ballard and got my first record deal.”

Despite it being such a big change from what her fans are used to hearing she’s admitted that it’s a long road a head of her and she doesn’t want to rush anything that could potentially shock her fans:

“I can’t get ahead of myself. I’m still doing the work: I’m a good balance of left and right brain, and to be an artist with a long career, you’ve got to have both,” she said.

“One thing John [Mayer] said to me was, ‘It’s harder maintaining success than finding it.’ I’ve got a few records under my belt, and I still feel like a brand-new artist. People still want that truth to cut through.”
