Pop superstar Katy Perry has had a successful 2014 and to top it off, it’s been confirmed that her film for ‘Dark Horse’ has had the most views on Youtube and Vevo – for an official music video – in 2014.
‘Dark Horse’ is lifted from Katy’s latest album ‘Prism’ which also features the tracks ‘Roar’ and ‘Birthday’ and YouTube have confirmed that the track has received 716 million views.
The track, which features rapper Juicy J is the third single to be lifted from Perry’s hit album ‘Prism’ and was released on the 17th of December 2013.
‘Dark Horse’ went on to win several awards including ‘Best Female Video’ at the MTV Video Music Awards and Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards among others.
YouTube have confirmed that the second most viewed music video in 2014 so far was Enrique Iglesias’ ‘Bailando’ which has a view count of more than 588 million.
Other videos that feature include Shakira who features twice with ‘Can’t Remember to Forget You ft. Rihanna’ in third place and ‘La La La (Brazil 2014) ft. Carlinhos Brown’ in fourth place.
Meanwhile in fifth place is Jason Derulo with his huge hit ‘Wiggle feat. Snoop Dogg’ which at present has been viewed more than 400 million times.
Music video streaming service Vevo have also confirmed that up until the 30th of November Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’ had been viewed 28,365,361 times in the UK alone.
Meanwhile in second place is rising star Meghan Trainor with her catchy hit ‘All About That Bass’ with a view count of 27,258,545.
‘Fancy’ from Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is in third place on the list with 25,983,479 views while ‘Shake It Off’ from Taylor Swift’ is in fourth place with 23.5 million views.
Vevo have revealed that the only British act to feature on the Top 10 in the UK is Scottish DJ and producer Calvin Harris with ‘Summer’ which has been viewed 15,367,961 times.
