The show features three celebrity panellists who will attempt to identify three famous mystery guests by watching Keith take a tour of each home, exploring every nook and cranny in order to provide the guessing panel with revealing clues as to the identity of the famous owner.
Keith Lemon commented: “When I was a young lad all I wanted to be when I grew up was the boyfriend of Patsy Kensit, Kylie Minogue, or Belinda Carlisle. Be part of the A-Team, go back t’ future or be the host of ‘Through t’ Key Whole’. Well one of those dreams has come true! Not only am I the host of Keyhole, I’ll be going round t’ houses like Loyd Grossman but with better shoes. I honestly can’t wait! I think this is what’s gonna meck Patsy go out with me! Oooosh!”
Sir David Frost, host of the original TV series added: “I am delighted that the Keyhole format is now entering its fourth decade on TV. I know the pilot show went down very well with the studio audience and I wish Keith and his team the very best of luck for the series.”
Loyd Grossman added: “Keith has definitely put a new spin on a very well-established, much-loved format. He has given Through the Keyhole a contemporary twist, but preserved the spirit and intention of the original programme. The series has contemporary entertainment values, whilst still retaining the parts we all loved of the original – namely the fascinating insights into people’s lives!”
“This is a much-loved and highly popular format, but given a fresh squeeze of Lemon,” commented Managing Director of Talkback, Dan Baldwin. “We’ll still include all the classic elements that worked so well in the original, however I’m hoping this new incarnation will open up Through The Keyhole to a whole new audience”.
ITV Commissioning Editor, Comedy Entertainment, Claire Zolkwer commented: “Bringing Keith Lemon into such a well-remembered vintage format feels really fresh and exciting – his enthusiasm and humour are a perfect accompaniment to evening entertainment. With Keith going around the houses of celebrities, the audience will really get an insight into their lives… perhaps a bit more than they bargained for!”
