Stars are lining up to pay tribute to late singer Amy Winehouse.
The 27 year old ‘Rehab’ hitmaker was found dead in her Camden flat this afternoon and on hearing the devastating news, Kelly Osbourne took to Twitter to speak about her ‘best friend.’
The TV presenter wrote:
“I can’t even breathe right my now I’m crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. I love you forever Amy & will never forget the real you.
“i miss my friend! im going to be off twitter for a while thank you for all your support! #Pray4Amy (sic)!
American rapper and singer Nicki Minaj also took to the micro blogging site to check if the news was true, writing:
“Please tell me Amy Winehouse didn’t die. Is this some sick joke?”
Rihanna also took time out to pay tribute to Winehouse, she told her six million followers that she had been left “heartbroken” by Amy’s passing, but hopes that her music will live on long after she is gone.
She wrote: “I am genuinely heartbroken about this #DearAmy.
“#DearAmy U made a MAJAH impression on this industry and throughout the world, in such a short space of time…too short! #ICONSneverDIE (sic)”
Amy’s spokesman Chris Goodman released a statement, saying:
“Everyone who is involved with Amy is shocked and devastated. Our thoughts are with her family and friends. The family will issue a statement when ready.”
The troubled singer’s body was found this afternoon and emergency servcices soon arrived on the scene.
A police statement said: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.
“On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.”
