The Sound of Music Live - Carrie Underwood

Thursday (December 5) saw the live TV remake of the 1965 hit film, Sound of Music. Despite many viewers loving the adaptation, original star Kym Karath SLAMMED Carrie Underwood for her role.

As part of the festive season on NBC, the network aired a live remake of the Sound of Music, in which Carrie Underwood took on the role of Maria, who was originally portrayed by Julie Andrews,. However, Karath who played the role of Gretl in the 1965 original was left less than impressed… oops!

The star didn’t hold back either as she took shots at Underwood via Twitter, claiming she was “disappointed” before adding that watching the show was “painful”. If there’s anything I’ve learned, this woman doesn’t mince her words.

Kym kicked off her tirade of tweets by writing: “Mystified & disappointed so far by SOM special. So far only happy with Stephen Moyer.

“Must admit some scenes are actually painful to watch”.

Her third tweet took a shot at Carrie Underwood, as she wrote: “Love Carrie Underwood but this role is just not right for her. She is lovely her voice is beautiful but acting is wrong”.

However, one person that would agree to disagree with Cameron Diaz. She may be new to this whole Twitter thing, but she gave her opinion anyway.

Miranda Lambert tweeted: “Wow! The Sound Of Music Live was awesome. @CarrieUnderwood unbelievable. I can’t imagine the work that went into that. Such a talented cast”.

Prior to the show kicking off, Carrie took to Twitter to defend the rather controversial role.

She tweeted: “I want to say before the craziness starts…I am truly honored to be in #TheSoundOfMusicLive This is an exciting/moving project…

“I have been surrounded by such an amazing cast and crew for the past 2 months and I will be sad when I’m not coming to set tomorrow…

“I hope, above all, that we are joyous in what we’re doing and that I am giving it all that I’ve got. Thank you for all the love and support.”

After the show was a wrap, she came back to the social networking website to write: “Glory to God tonight…I couldn’t be more proud. What a tough thing to pull off and we did it! I am so blessed!!!”

Did you watch the show last night? Did you enjoy it or do you agree with Kym?
