Radiohead, Dionne Warwick, Toronto’s Feist and Chan Marshall kick off the 31st series of BBC Two’s flagship, state-of-the-art live music show, Later… With Jools Holland, which tonight celebrates its 200th show.
Other guests due to appear throughout this series include Morrissey, Hot Chip, B-52s, Adele, Vampire Weekend and Maya Andrade. The series will return twice later in the year – first in April and then in mid-September, with a longer run.
Radiohead join Jools in the studio to perform songs from their new album, In Rainbows, while the legendary Dionne Warwick showcases tracks from her brand-new gospel album.
Toronto’s Feist, one of the crossover successes of 2007, performs songs from her album, The Reminder, as well as her single, 1234.
Georgia-born singer-songwriter Chan Marshall – better known as Cat Power – also performs a selection of songs from her covers album, Jukebox.
Later… With Jools Holland launched in October 1992 and is now one of the longest-running music series in British TV history, with more than 1,000 artists performing in the studio.
The show has continually provided a forum for cutting-edge artists such as Battles, Dizzee Rascal and At The Drive-In; world music artists including Buena Vista Social Club, Ali Farka Toure and Salif Keita; R&B stars like Mary J Blige, Jill Scott and D’Angelo; legends such as The Who and Johnny Cash; and regularly featured British bands including Portishead, Pulp, Oasis, Blur and Coldplay.
