The stars have flocked to Twitter this evening, to express their shock and devastation over the tragic death of Amy Winehouse.

Celebrities have been just as stunned by the news as the rest of the world’s music fans and many seem truly moved by the news that the ‘Rehab’ hitmaker was found dead in her London home today, after what was suspected to be a drugs overdose.

American singer Leann Rimes couldn’t believe the news and told her followers:

‘RIP Amy Winehouse. So sad to see such a talent gone and her life end in tragedy. This makes me terribly sad.’

America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan also commented on the tragedy, calling the late singer ‘self-destructive.’ He wrote:

‘Such desperately sad news re Amy Winehouse.Supreme talent, terrible self-destructive addictive personality.’

Fellow English singer Lily Allen, who once publicly defended Winehouse against the constant media furore and negative attention, hopes she will now ‘rest in peace,’ and tweeted:

‘Its just beyond sad, there’s nothing else to say. She was such a lost soul, may she rest in peace.’

Katie Price told her followers:

‘Omg how sad Amy Winehouse been found dead tragic. My thoughts are with her family xxxx.’

Demi Moore’s thoughts are with Amy’s nearest and dearest and she wrote:

‘Truly sad news about Amy Winehouse. My heart goes out to her family. May her troubled soul find peace.’

Dita Von Teese seemed genuinely upset and she told fans that she has brilliant memories of Amy, saying:

“Devastated. I spent extraordinary times with Amy. She sang for me once for hours, it was the most beautiful & touching thing. A huge loss.”

Amy’s body was found at her Camden home at 3.54 this afternoon and police have called her death ‘unexplained’. When the news broke in the media, insiders claimed that her dad Mitch had not yet been informed, as he was travelling to America for a performance of his own.

Our thoughts are with Amy’s family at this time.
