Leigh Francis says “Kelly Brook was paid more for opening Poundland” than for Keith Lemon: The Film role
As fans of comedian Leigh Francis will know, he’s recently completed filming on a movie that features his alter ego Keith Lemon…
Cunningly entitled Keith Lemon: The Film, it features a whole host of celebrities making cameo appearances, including Gary Barlow, members of The Spice Girls, Ronan Keating, Peter Andre, Holly Willoughby and EastEnders star, Nina Wadia.
It also stars Kelly Brook, which, as Leigh has revealed to The Sun, was quite a coup given how little money she was paid for her part in the movie!
Of the film, and of Kelly’s role in it, Leigh said, “For the first two weeks of making Keith Lemon: The Film I was like, ‘f*** this’. It takes f***ing ages. I’ll stick to TV…
“After three weeks I loved it. It seems more romantic than telly – even though it’s really low budget.
“Kelly Brook has been paid more for opening Poundland. I’m really surprised she did it because it’s s*** money.”
He added, “The film’s music is all from my collection of cassettes and vinyl. Me and Kelly sing Especially For You and they wanted to release it as a single.
“I was like, ‘No, it’s horrendous!’ I can’t sing for s***. But she’s good.
“The film has good music stars – Gary Barlow, Jason Donovan, Peter Andre…”
Leigh then joked, “The budget for the whole movie – out on August 24 – was two and a half quid.
“It’s in 450 cinemas. That’s worked out well. Bang tidy.
“I’ve got Lemon La Vida Loca, the film stuff and I’ve got me book out in November.
“The DVD Extras from the film will be out at Christmas, by the way.”
I can’t wait to see this! But for now, here’s the film’s trailer…
