The X Factor is due back on our screens on August 31st and latest sales figures from previous contestants and winners show that since the show began back in 2004, it has produced 30 million singles sales and 18 million albums sales in the UK alone.
Leona Lewis who won the third series of The X Factor back in 2006 tops both of the lists after she sold around 4.4 million singles and 3.9 million albums in the UK.
Olly Murs, who finished as the runner-up back in 2009 is in second place on the singles list after selling 3.9 million songs where as in the albums list Murs is in third place after selling 2.6 million albums.
JLS beat Olly Murs in the album chart as they take the number two spot after they sold 2.7 million albums in the UK but fall to third place in the singles list after selling 3.4 million singles.
The figures come from a report by MusicWeek who also reported that Alexandra Burke who won the show in 2008 still holds on to the title of the best-selling X Factor single with Hallelujah.
