Leona Lewis missed out on a number one single yesterday with her Christmas single ‘One More Sleep’ which has been lifted from her Christmas album ‘Christmas With Love’.
Though it’s not all bad news for the former X Factor winner as the Official Charts Company have revealed that she has broken an Official Singles Chart record.
Her first single to be released from her Christmas album ‘Christmas With Love’ has now given her more Top 5 tracks to her name (eight to be exact) than any other British female solo artist in chart history.
The pop beauty spoke with OfficialCharts.com and commented on the success and said: “The support from my fans has been tremendous, I could not do this without them!”
Leona Lewis made her debut on the Official Singles Chart with her X Factor winner’s single ‘A Moment Like This’ seven years ago.
She then topped the charts once again a year later with ‘Bleeding Love’ which was her first single from her debut album ‘Spirit’.
‘Bleeding Love’ then went on to become one of the UK’s biggest selling singles after it sold over a million copies.
In 2008 ‘Better In Time / Footprints In The Sand’ peaked at Number 2 while ‘Forgive Me’ and ‘Run’ peaked at Number (5) and Number (1) respectively.
‘Happy’, the lead single from Leona’s second album ‘Echo’ peaked at Number (9) on the Official Singles Chart in 2009 while in 2011 her collaboration with Avicii ‘Collide’ peaked at Number (4).
Previously Olivia-Newton John held the record with a total of seven tracks in the UK Top 5 but with ‘One More Sleep’ by Leona Lewis peaking at Number (3) she moves Newton John into second place.
In joint third place are Petula Clark, Shirley Bassey, Cilla Black, Geri Halliwell, Billie Piper, Louise, Cheryl Cole, Jessie J and Ellie Goulding with six hits in the UK Top 5 each.
