Leona Lewis will release her Christmas album ‘Christmas, With Love’ tomorrow (2nd of December) and the X Factor winner has been promoting it in various interviews.
The singer-songwriter who has had great success both sides of the pond isn’t your normal “pop star” in fact she’s the complete opposite to what we see nearly every day on our TV.
In an interview with The Mirror Leona Lewis spoke about pop stars and how their provocative actions can have negative effects on their young fans.
The 28 year old singer also spoke about parents and how they should be taking responsibility for what their children see and hear in terms of music and their videos.
Speaking with the newspaper Lewis said: “Being sexual and in your face is not great for girls who are quite young…”
“I’ve got a god-daughter and little nieces and I don’t want them to see me acting crazy and naked in my music videos.”
She went on to say: “When my little god-daughter is watching videos and doing all these moves, I say to my best friend ‘you need to turn that off.’ So it’s up to the parents as well to be able to control what their children are watching. It’s like, ‘don’t twerk, you’re a six year old. Stop it.’”
The songstress however didn’t name any artists in particular and said: “You can’t blame those girls, who are being young and sometimes dumb. They’re just expressing themselves how they want to.”
She concluded by saying: “Girls are not perfect, we all make mistakes.”
Leona Lewis also spoke recently about possibly collaborating with Bruno Mars and said that it would be something she would like to do:
“I definitely want to work with the Smeezingtons. I’d love to do something with Bruno Mars, so I’m reaching out to a few different people and also some Motown people, maybe doing something with them.”
“So I’m still thinking about it, but maybe I’ll try something like that on the next album.”
Leona Lewis recently performed ‘Winter Wonderland’ on ITV’s Daybreak on Friday and you can check out the performance below.
