Lily Allen made her comeback to the music industry late last year with her comeback single ‘Hard Out Here’ which was her first release since 2009.
Allen also featured on the John Lewis Christmas advert with her cover of the hugely popular ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ by Keane. The singer is also currently working on her comeback album.
While Lily Allen is also working on her third studio album – her first since ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ from 2009 the singer has also released a new song called ‘Air Balloon’.
The track was released onto radio stations earlier this week and is due to be officially released on the 2nd of March.
Allen however has spoken about her new album to NME and said that she expects people to be angry at certain things on the new record.
The singer said: “When you put something out there, people want to write about it. They want the hits, they want American Apparel to advertise on their blog. So, yeah, I’m sure people will find things to get angry about on the record.”
Lily Allen also discussed the overall sound of the album and said: “The last couple [of albums] looked to the past for their influences, whether it was ska or reggae or whatever, but this one doesn’t do that at all.”
“There’s one that has a quite country-ish, Primal Scream-y vibe to it – but that’s about the extent of it.”
Lily Allen also spoke in an interview with Capital FM recently about how she used her kids to listen to her music and figure out their reactions:
“I haven’t done any of that sampling. But you know what, little babies are really quite good to test your music out on.”
“[Air Balloon] – which hopefully you’re gonna play today, and again tomorrow I hope – my eldest one just loves it so much and she calls it the ‘Ponky tune’!”
