Loose Women presenter, Andrea McLean is set to shock fans of the show as a sex mad therapist in a new film, it has been reported.
Mclean, who is currently recovering after being stalked by a married man who bombarded her with calls and texts of a sexual nature in order to try and get her to go out with him, plays Dr Andrea Grey in the film Landscape of Lies, in which she is seen kissing both men and women during drunken nights out.
The daytime presenter is due to fly out to the Cannes Film Festival later this month to promote the British made film which is due for release this summer.
Her character is “sinking into self-destruct mode” whilst she is meant to be helping a gangster couple in marriage therapy, a role she landed after being spotted on TV by the film’s producer, Paul Knight.
A film source said: “Paul and his team knew exactly the kind of girl they were looking for.
“Then they spotted Andrea when they were flicking channels on TV and saw Loose Women.
“They didn’t know if Andrea could act but got her in and, after a couple of auditions, she proved she could do it.
“With a bit of luck this could be the start of a new career for her and she could become a movie star. She has certainly got the looks.
“She is already going to need some time off Loose Women so she can go to Cannes. She can’t wait to go and knows the parties at the film festival are legendary.”
Mclean has teased that she expects fans to be “shocked” by her performance, commenting after shooting for the film began last year: “I didn’t go to any acting classes. I just threw myself into it. I thought, ‘Why not? If I’m rubbish, who cares?’
“I might be awful. But if I’m all right then I would love to do it again because it was such fun.”
