Lorde has revealed that she isn’t really a fan of the nicknames sometimes given to her by the press and that they often make her cringe.
The singer from New Zealand has revealed one nickname in particular however that when she hears it, it makes her want to throw up.
Lorde spoke to The New York Times and the singer explained that in particular she hates when she’s described as being a “hottie”.
The 17 year old from New Zealand however has confessed that she doesn’t mind being described as a “pop princess”.
She said: “The phrase ‘teen hottie’ literally makes me want to throw up. I’m a pop princess at heart.”
“Pop is about distilling what you want to say and making it easy. And the way I write isn’t about making things easy. It’s a weird juxtaposition.”
Lorde also discussed the topic of love when it comes to writing new songs and said: “Some people love writing about that, and that’s fine.”
“But I personally haven’t found a way to do it yet which is innovative and feels new to me.”
In another interview she also joked about her debut single “Royals” and how now, those things she spoke about in the track she can now have due to the success of the song: “The irony is not lost on me.”
“I definitely don’t feel like I’m living in a particularly extravagant sort of way, which I think is good because I think for me, personally, if I was thrown into that kind of thing I wouldn’t know how to deal with it.”
She then added: “I think it’s good to kind of keep on keeping on: just do what you have normally done and sort things into a stride.”
