Jamie Oliver has always been fairly outspoken, but we would never have expected him to lose his temper with a journalist.
However, that’s exactly what the celebrity chef did this week, when an Australian reporter asked if he had put on a lot of weight since last visiting down under.
The dad of four is in Oz, to launch his new Sydney restaurant, open a new Ministry of Food and will also appear on the Australian version of MasterChef this week. However, he seemed miffed when more people seemed to be talking about his chubbier than usual physique instead of any of his business ventures or TV appearances.
When asked if he had put on weight recently, The Herald Sun reports that Oliver hit back at a female journalist, saying:
“I don’t know. I think the last time I had a filling in my teeth, which was quite recently, I was in good nick. But really, I am not really sure.
“Are you from a tabloid? Thanks for noticing, you bitch.”
We can see why Jamie would have chubbed out a bit though, not that we’re calling him fat. He cooks and eats food for a living – which is a job we would totally love – and he is dad to four young children. His calorie intake is sure to be high and when on earth would he find time to work it off between his busy family life and hectic work schedule.
In saying that, we’re not sure anyone would be paying him to be the ‘Naked Chef’ anymore….
Oliver’s weight seems to have been the talk of Australia for his whole visit, as fielding a similar question earlier in the week, he defended his larger stature saying:
“I do my best… working in the food business is quite hard when someone is constantly asking you to try things. I eat fresh, I train twice a week.
“I could definitely do better, but I am trying to do my best, like most people when they hit 30.”
