Lucy-Jo Hudson has revealed that she found it very difficult to cope with the fame she achieved whilst appearing on ITV’s Coronation Street. In fact in the end she was actually relieved to leave the show.

Lucy-Jo played the part of Katy Harris, and featured in some of the soaps biggest storylines when she had an affair with the much older Marin Platt and subsequently murdered her father who was opposed to the relationship.

Katy told The People newspaper:

“I was 18 when I got the Katy part. Because I was so young I couldn’t cope with it at all.

“Your life turns upside down because you can’t go anywhere without people pointing at you and putting a camera in your face to take a picture because you’re public property.

“I became a recluse and hibernated. It was a relief to leave. I still love the crew and the people, but when I got to leave I felt like my life started and I became my own person. Al has helped and I feel like now I have finally become myself and become who I should be.”
