Martina Navratilova On Beat The Star!
She’s a formidable force to be reckoned with on the tennis court, and tonight the nine times winner of Wimbledon and one of the world’s greatest ever tennis players, Martina Navratilova, takes on a game member of the public in Beat The Star.
25-year-old surgeon Rachel Hornigold from Buxted, East Sussex is warming up for her chance to beat Martina and win herself a massive £100,000.
Martina and Rachel will go head over a series of seven different games made up of physical and mental challenges right through to the downright quirky and daring.
Rachel is extremely fit ultra-runner – competing in events in excess of 40 miles – and works out seven times a week. She’s also absailed off Twickenham Stadium, and being incredibly intellegent, being a member of The Royal College of Surgeons.
Martina, now 51, was ranked the world’s number one tennis player for seven consectutive years, is used to performing under immense pressure and coming out on top, she continues to promote and practice health and wellbeing following her retirement from the prefodsseional tennis circuit.
However, their combined skills could count for nothing when faced with this week’s unusal challenges including a very competitive game of hockey, a skillful game of ten-pin bowling, completing a children’s jigsaw, and guessing how many toilet rolls are stuffed in a Mini.
Although both feel ready to undertake the challenge they have no idea what host Vernon Kay will have up his sleeve under seconds before.
If Martina serves an ace it could be game, set and match for her, and she will leave with her pride intact. However, if Rachel succeeds she will reign triumphant and pocket a whopping £100,000.
