Gavin and Stacey star Mat Horne has managed to offend a whole nation with his recent Twitter update.

Mat has spent the last few months in Welsh city Cardiff filming the new series of Gavin And Stacey for BBC3.

As filming drew to an end Mat tweeted:: “Smell ya later (or never), Cardiff. Yes, London, how I f***ing love you.”

After receiving numerous complaints he tried to back-pedal with: “I never said anything rude about Cardiff. Is someone paranoid? Smell ya later is merely an American colloquialism for goodbye.

“For eff’s sake. The ‘or never’ means I have finished filming the final series of Gavin & Stacey and have no reason to go back. I like Cardiff.”

He doesn’t convince me at all!
