Matt Lucas and David Walliams defended the stateside success of their sketch show Little Britain USA on GMTV this morning.

Speaking on the breakfast TV show, the comedy-duo said thier US spin-off went down well across the pond – and only received one bad review.

“I think it’s gone well,” said Matt Lucas. “We’re doing another series for HBO in America next year, which is great… people have responded really well to the show out there, and the viewing figures went up every week. And most of the reviews were great.”

David Walliams added “We got one bad review – and then the British papers – they went, ‘They’ve had terrible reviews.’ Well, we had one.”

Matt Lucas denied that Little Britain’s Vicky Pollard was lost in translation for American viewers, saying “I mean, she’s quite hard to understand for British people – so I don’t think it makes much difference for the Americans.”
