Meanwhile over on the Official Albums Chart British singer-songwriter Ben Howard has scored his first chart topping album with his second release ‘I Forget Where We Were’.
On the Official Singles Chart Meghan Trainor is showing no signs of moving from that top spot, keeping all competition at bay for yet another week. The singer has also now tied with British band Clean Bandit’s smash hit ‘Rather Be’ for the longest-running chart-topper of the year.
At Number (2) on the chart this week is Ed Sheeran with his latest single ‘Thinking Out Loud’ which has climbed two places this week but marks its 18th week on the chart. It has also been confirmed that the track also broke the million streams mark this week with more than 1.2 million streams.
Claiming the highest new entry this week is Waza & Odyssey with ‘Bump & Grind 2014’ while ‘Bang Bang’ from Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj is sitting at Number (4). Completing the Top 5 this week on the Official Singles Chart is Taylor Swift’s latest single ‘Shake It Off’.
The Official Charts Company report that new on the chart this week including Fuse ODG’s ‘Tina’ at Number (9). Meanwhile for Sam Smith, ‘I’m Not The Only One’ has climbed two places to Number (10) while ‘Stay With Me’ is up eight places to Number (15).
Both Taylor Swift and Maroon 5 performed on the X Factor last weekend and both have seen a surge in sales. For Maroon 5 they move from number 60 to Number (32) with ‘Animals’ while Taylor Swift’s ‘Welcome To New York’ debuts on the chart at Number (39).
Over on the Official Albums Chart Ben Howard has managed to score his first Number (1) album in the UK with his latest release ‘I Forget Where We Are’ beating his debut album ‘Every Kingdom’ which peaked at number four back in 2012.
At Number (2) on the Official Albums Chart this week Slipknot see their fifth studio album ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ soar into the chart while Ed Sheeran’s ‘X’ falls one place down to Number (3) after spending several weeks in the Top 5.
At Number (4) on the chart this week is Neil Diamond with his 32nd album ‘Melody Road’ while Status Quo complete the Top 5 this week with their new album ‘Aquostic (Stripped Bare)’ – this marks their 31st LP and their first ever acoustic collection.
Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett are seeing a sales boost following their performance on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ last weekend as ‘Cheek To Cheek’ climbs 39 places to Number (12) while Maroon 5’s ‘V’ climbs from 42 to Number (15) following their performance on the X Factor.
Nicole Scherzinger is at Number (17) with her second UK Top 20 album ‘Big Fat Lie’ while Madonna’s ‘True Blue’ is back at Number (21). Mark Lanegan’s Phantom Radio is at Number (22) and Scott Walker & Sunn O’s ‘Soused’ is at Number (30).
