You might not have heard of Meghan Trainor yet but chances are, if you’ve had a radio on over the past few days, then you’ll have heard her track ‘All About That Bass’.
The infectious song is currently number one here in the UK and entered the UK Top 40 based on streaming figures alone last Sunday.
Meghan has admitted that things could have been completely different though and she revealed in a new interview with The Guardian that the song could have gone to someone else.
Trainor confessed that the hit track had been offered to big stars Beyoncé and Adele who turned it down.
Speaking with The Guardian she said: “Some artists get thousands of songs pitched and they never know, so Beyoncé herself probably never heard it.
“There weren’t any singers at the time [who fit the song]. Adele was the only one, but she wasn’t rapping and singing sassy songs with swears in them.”
Meghan also admitted that she fell ill recently, because her life and career have have been becoming so hectic. She explained:
“Everyone was asking us to do everything and we hated to say no to anything, so we said yes, and eventually I just crashed.”
She continued: “I actually am lying in bed. I just landed in Canada, and I’m in bed doing all these interviews in my sweatshirt and sweatpants.”
Meanwhile, Meghan has also been chatting with the Official Charts Company and she honestly cannot wait for UK fans to hear more of her songs.
The star feels ‘very confident’ about the quality of material on her debut album.
