The Mentalist will return to our screens for the final season of the CBS drama on 30th November. The show was expected to return in 2015, so despite the fact we waited forever to find out a premiere date, we were pleasantly surprised when it was revealed that the show would be coming back much sooner than we thought.

There have been plenty of announcements about the show’s upcoming season, including the beginning of Jane and Lisbon’s relationship and more on those pictures of Lisbon in prison.

We were very curious when it was revealed that Morena Baccarin, who previously appeared as sociopath Erica Flynn, would be returning to the series. Now it has been confirmed just how and why she will return to our screens, but it isn’t without an agenda that’s for sure…

Erica will return in the 3rd episode of the series entitled “Orange Blossom Ice Cream”, which is set to air on December 14th.

Jane and Lisbon will travel out to Beirut, where Erica is currently residing and team up with her when she agrees to help the FBI apprehend her boyfriend. Her other half is a courier for various terrorist organizations.

However, Erica won’t help Jane and co out of the goodness of her heart. Of course, she’s been on the run for a good while now and in exchange for her help, she wants amnesty for her past crimes. Will the FBI agree to this request?

Ahead of the new season, writer Jimmy Gadd who is very active on social media with the passionate Mentalist fanbase has promised lots of “inside information”.

“Thank you all for the support and i hope to love tweet the season premiere. I’ve got lots on inside info… You won’t wanna miss it! ;)” he tweeted on Nov 12th.

It’s very disappointing that there will only be 13 episodes to end the The Mentalist. I know that most everyone thought that it would be cancelled after last season, but only bringing it back for 13 episodes is wrong, especially when CBS just gave Madam Secretary a full 22 episodes. If CBS had never moved it to Sundays, where it was dumped on and disrespected, the show might still be going strong.
