Merlin series five image revealed at Comic-Con plus movie trilogy spin-off may be in the works!
Fans of cult show Merlin are of course eagerly awaiting series five hitting our screens later this year, and as ever, the San Diego Comic-Con event was a gold mine of info about the show, and the forthcoming new run.
First and foremost though, the new image – above – was revealed, with the possibly telling tagline, “The die is cast.”
There was apparently some debate at Comic-Con about the specific meaning of that, but as the fifth series is in fact still in production, its co-creators Johnny Capps wouldn’t give away all the details in order to keep some surprises in store for fans.
However, he did confirm a few stories that have been doing the rounds about series five, including the fact that Anthony Head will be back in his role as Uther Pendrago, and most excitingly, Capps said that the series may well be turned into a trilogy of full-length movies after filming for series five has ended…
Digital Spy report that he said, “We’re hopefully going to do a trilogy – three movies. We will focus on them when we finish season five.
“One idea we’ve been playing around with is to reboot the whole series [for the films].
“We would go back in time and start the story again and show different parts that you didn’t see in the series.
“The other idea is to do a continuation, but we haven’t decided yet.”
