‘Midnight Memories’ by One Direction set to become fastest selling album of 2013

It’s that time of the week where we give you a mid week chart update courtesy of the Official Charts Company and on this weeks Official Albums Chart it looks like One Direction are on course to score the fastest selling album of 2013.

‘Midnight Memories’ was only released on Monday but going into this Sunday the former X Factor contestants look set to knock Robbie Williams off the top after just one week.

One Direction have had an incredibly busy time as of late, they performed on BBC’s Children In Need, the X Factor and the American Music Awards.

When they’ve found the time they have been promoting their third studio album which has sold an astonishing 145,000 copies in its first three days on sale.

According to data released by the Official Charts Company One Direction are currently outselling Gary Barlow and ‘Since I Saw You Last’ which is at Number (2) by three copies to one.

On the Official Albums Chart One Direction are also outselling every other artist in the Top 5 at this stage. One Direction could also take the crown of fastest selling album of the year from Daft Punk who sold 165,000 copies in their first week with ‘Random Access Memories’.

At Number (3) this week on the Official Albums Chart is last week’s number 1 ‘Swing Both Ways’ by Robbie Williams which was also crowned the 1000th UK number 1 album.

Olly Murs and ‘Right Place Right Time’ has shot up a staggering 92 places into Number (4) following the album being released once again to coincide with the release of ‘Hand On My Heart’ – Murs’ latest single.

Completing the Top 5 this week is ‘BZ20’ by Boyzone (5) which is their new album celebrating twenty years since they first formed.

Taking a look at new entries on this weeks Official Albums Chart at the mid week stage Susan Boyle has debuted at Number (7) with ‘Home For Christmas’.

‘A Mary Christmas’ by Mary J Blige enters at Number (22) this week while Dido and her Greatest Hits are at Number (28) at this mid week stage.

Debuting at Number (34) this week is ‘Common Courtesy’ by A Day To Remember while making a return to the Official Albums Chart this week are Wet Wet Wet with ‘Step by Step – The Greatest Hits’.

Finally completing the new entries this week are the Poppy Girls and ‘No Need To Say Goodbye’ which is at Number (38).
