Miley Cyrus comments on music in general saying it’s “really stale right now”

Miley Cyrus has spoken about the state of music recently and has also confessed that she’s happy with the reaction her performance at the MTV VMAs got as she felt music needed an injection of excitement to it.

The ‘Wrecking Ball’ star also spoke with Rolling Stone about America and how shows like ‘Breaking Bad’ are just a how-to for anyone who wants to make meth.

Miley Cyrus spoke with Fashion magazine recently and they discussed how she felt that the music industry in general felt “stale” and she was happy to shake things up with her performance at the MTV VMAs.

You’ll remember that the 20 year old performed a rather raunchy rendition of ‘We Can’t Stop’ and was joined by Robin Thicke to perform his hit ‘Blurred Lines’ which went on to storm the internet – though Cyrus doesn’t seem phased by the negativity.

Speaking with Fashion magazine she said:

“I’m proud of that performance. I feel like music is really stale right now. I could have guessed what a lot of artists would have done that night.”

Miley also said that if MTV hadn’t edited the performance down it may have been worse:

“I was trying to slap Robin’s ass but no-one saw it! Believe me! MTV edited so much. They cut almost everything I did. The reaction to what I did has been insane. I think it was a breath of fresh air! For the people that don’t get it, you weren’t meant to.”

Speaking in an earlier interview with Rolling Stone magazine Miley Cyrus also discussed ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘America’ and how a show can essentially teach people to make meth but networks will bleep out words during her performances:

“America is just so weird in what they think is right and wrong. Like, I was watching Breaking Bad the other day, and they were cooking meth. I could literally cook meth because of that show. It’s a how-to. And then they bleeped out the word ‘f**k’.”

“And I’m like, really? They killed a guy, and disintegrated his body in acid, but you’re not allowed to say ‘f**k’? It’s like when they bleeped ‘molly’ [from ‘We Can’t Stop’] at the VMAs. Look what I’m doing up here right now, and you’re going to bleep out ‘molly’? Whatever.”

Last weekend Miley Cyrus performed at the iHeartRadio Festival which you can see below.
