Miley Cyrus has taken a moment away from the all the controversy and has sat down for an interview to reflect about the past year.
We don’t need to talk about all the news headlines that Cyrus has created the past few months but if we say VMAs and ‘Wrecking Ball’ that should be enough right?
Miley Cyrus may only be 20 years old but I’d go out on a limb to say she’s probably been one of the most talked about celebrities the past year.
She’s transformed from the childhood Disney channel star we all knew her for into her own person. It seems like she’s all grown up and she’s doing exactly what she wants when she wants.
Cyrus recently sat down with Cosmopolitan magazine and discussed the whirlwind year she’s had and spoke about how she’s literally what everyone is talking about:
“’Everything is so chaotic and crazy right now… I’m literally what everyone is talking about.”
This hasn’t phased the 20 year old though as she seems very happy to be the hot topic of the moment:
“I don’t want to say that I’m on top right now – I feel like I’m kind of an underdog in a cool way. It’s almost punk rock to like me because it’s not the right thing to do. Like, society wants to shut me down.”
The MTV VMAs performance was of course brought up in the interview and Miley defended her performance:
“When people started complaining about the awards show, I was like, ‘Have you never seen the f***ing video?’ And what if I hadn’t done that performance?”
“The VMAs would have been bad. They would have been missing something. The show was kind of making fun of how serious the pop industry is.”
The star also spoke about her recent breakup with Liam Hemsworth but admitted she doesn’t think dwelling on that is the right thing to be doing:
“I need to treat my music like a relationship – give it my time and all the attention it deserves – and that’s my main love right now… This is the best time of my life.”
“I’m not going to look back on it and be like, ‘I wish I hadn’t been dwelling over a breakup’, you know? Because that’s not what God wants my life to be about right now.”
