Miranda Hart banned from joining Doctor Who!

Miranda Hart is reportedly gutted after BBC bosses told her that she can’t join the cast of Doctor Who.

Show boss Steven Moffat is said to have offered the buxom comedienne a ‘significant’ role in the second part of the soon to return series, however BBC controller Danny Cohen wants her to keep her focus on her own sitcom ‘Miranda’, which will make it’s move from BBC two to BBC one next year.

A source told The Sun:

“Miranda was thrilled to be asked to be on Doctor Who.

“Steven offered her a decent role and she felt, as it was on the BBC, there would be no problem.

“But the BBC1 controller let it be known that he wants her focused on her show, which he has nabbed from BBC2. Miranda’s gutted as she feels she could do both.”

Putting a brave face on when she addressed the news, Miranda said:

“I am a massive fan of Dr Who, so was incredibly flattered to be asked to be part of it but with series three of Miranda happening next year it was never going to be possible as I am focusing entirely on the sitcom.”

Cohen added: “Miranda’s one of our brightest and busiest stars – as well as writing and starring in her own sitcom she’s also currently filming Call The Midwife, one of our brand new dramas for 2012.”

Hart certainly is hot property at the minute. In 2011 alone she won big at the Comedy awards, taking home the gongs for “Best Comedy Actress”, “People’s Choice Award For The King Or Queen Of Comedy” and the show Miranda also won “Best New British TV Comedy” and was nominated for “Best Sitcom”.
