Mischief – Is It ‘Cos I Is Black?

In an exposé of politically correct Britain, Mischief sets out to discover whether political correctness is ruining our lives and asks if people are now too afraid to do or say anything for fear of offending someone. Adil Ray, a presenter of Asian descent, travels the country to see how much he can blag using his minority status simply because people are too PC to question his mischievous antics.

Alongside him is “non able-bodied” actor David Proud and a white male control sample – comedian Karl Lucas. The three are set the same challenges: to “out” PC attitudes anywhere they suspect it may lie.

As they travel around Britain they find out where left-handed toilet paper can be bought and discover whether people can take their own chicken into a fancy restaurant. They come across the only hotel in Newcastle where all the toilets face Mecca and break the world land-speed record getting to the front of a busy taxi queue outside a train station during rush hour.

Local councils are always declaring that they are proud to support different minority groups, but are they equally proud to gun for Mr average white guy? With employers constantly being encouraged to make the workforce more diverse, Mischief finds out whether the job market acts in a politically correct way, or if traditional prejudices can still be found in the workplace.

After each round of challenges, the three PC spies – Muslim maverick Adil, wheelchair warrior David and control sample Caucasian Karl – are awarded points and, at the end, one is crowned Britain’s Best PC Blagger. Along the way, they uncover some uncomfortable truths about where the line of political correctness lies in Britain and end up facing a dilemma as to whether they are willing to cross that line in front of a live audience at a comedy club.
