It is the news that all Misfits fans have been waiting for, the writers of hit show, Misfits, are making a third series, but with a few changes.
Robert Sheehan, who played Nathan, has confirmed that he will NOT be in the third series, instead the show is introducing a new character, Rudy.
This news will come as a shock to most fans, but rather than just film without Nathan, mentioning his departure in passing in an episode, the creator, Howard Overman, has decided to make a one off film, to only be shown online, to show his departure, and to introduce the new character.
Overman said: “It’s great to be launching the third series of Misfits with an online film which introduces our new character Rudy, as well as saying goodbye to Nathan.”
Meanwhile, Channel 4’s drama commissioning editor Robert Wulff-Cochrane said: “We’re all very excited about the return for a third series, as well as kicking off with a groundbreaking online film. Howard Overman has created some more brilliantly surprising and original storylines and fans can rest assured that series three will begin in a way no-one else could possibly imagine.”
The online Misfits episode will be posted on the E4 website before the third series begins later this year, and although details of Nathan’s exit are being kept very secret, E4 has confirmed the film will see the group travel to Las Vegas, which will end very badly for Nathan and ‘may or may not involve some pic ‘n’ mix, a Fisherman’s Friend, and a Tripling incident’.
Misfits series 1 and 2 told the story of 5 community service workers who were caught in a freak weather storm and gained super powers as a result.
