MP Joins MTV For ‘Go Green Day’ on MTV Flux ‘
London 28th March 2006: David Miliband has called for viewers to ‘make a difference’ in an exclusive interview with Flux, MTV’s user-generated content and social community channel, for its ‘Go Green Day’ on Friday 30th March. The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has also compiled a ‘One Planet Playlist’ of green songs for the campaign day, with a little help from regulars on his ministerial blog. ‘Go Green Day’ aims to raise awareness as well as sharing information on the environment and global warming, between key public figures and the MTV Flux community.
In an exclusive interview for MTV Flux, Mr Miliband confessed: “I’m not a saint but I’m less of a sinner,” when referring to the climate change impacts of his personal behaviour. “What I would say to MTV viewers is that you can make a difference and unless you make a difference Governments are not going to be able to do it on their own.”
Other stars to have their say on ‘Go Green Day’ include Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Killa Kela, Liz McClarnon, Maximo Park, New Young Pony Club and ex Sugababe, Siobhan Donaghy.
Go Green Day is just one of a series of campaign days on MTV Flux, where people who are active on the website and key members of the public come in and run the channel for the day. The first such event was for World Aids Day on December 1st 2006, followed by February’s Valentines Day special, and in April there will be ‘Sports Day’ with focus on young people, sport and physical achievement.
