Mr Selfridge: Gregory Fitoussi quits his role as Henri Leclaire!
Female fans of Mr Selfridge, prepare yourself, Gregory Fitoussi has quit his role as Henri Leclair!
The dashing Frenchman, who plays the creative director in the hit ITV period drama, has been revealed as leaving the show at the end of the series one finale, but according to the Sun newspaper, show bosses hope that won’t be the last that we, or Selfridges, sees of him.
Mr Selfridge has already been commissioned for a second series, which will begin filming later this year, and show execs are keen to persuade Fitoussi, who fans will see leave the shop at the end of series one after securing a job in New York, to return at some point during its next run.
A source told the publication: “Henri will be seen leaving the store in the final episode of the first series. Show bosses really want him to return.”
Meanwhile, Aisling Loftus has been discussing her good luck after fans witnessed her getting a snog from the French window dresser in last night’s show.
The actress, who plays shop assistant Agnes Towler in the hit show, admitted that she was thrilled when she found out about he kiss, told the Sun newspaper:
“When I told my friends about the kiss they were all sick with jealousy. Gregory is gorgeous. And he’s as gorgeous in person as he looks — he isn’t a dirty dog like you might expect of someone that attractive.
“When we filmed the scene I was so nervous… it was nerve-racking at first, and then fine. And Gregory was such a gentleman.
“Let’s just say it wasn’t exactly the worst day of my life.”
Loftus went on to explain, however, that despite Fitoussi’s huge female fan base, her partner, Jacob Anderson who she has been dating for two years, isn’t jealous:
“Luckily my boyfriend isn’t jealous. We are totally loved-up and way past all that insecurity c***.”
On the subject of filming the hit show, which follows the trials and tribulations of Selfridge’s founder, Harry Selfridge, Loftus, who has also starred in This Is England, continued:
“It was a giggle. We had such a lot of fun. But Jeremy is so American and he didn’t really get that silly British humour where everything is taken the p*** out of. He’d think we were being serious about something and we absolutely weren’t.”
She added: “Even Simon Cowell said on Twitter that he loves it. It’s surreal to think a show we filmed in Neasden is being watched by someone like him.”
