Mr Selfridge star, Katherine Kelly, has confirmed that she has signed up for the second series of the hit ITV period drama when it returns next year.
Mr Selfridge was recommissioned for a second series just before the first series concluded on our ITV screens earlier this month, after what can only be described as a phenomenal response from viewers, but returning stars remained somewhat of a mystery with none, until now, being revealed as signed up.
One in particular, former Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly, was the question of much speculation as reports began circulating that she was too busy to reprise her role as Lady Mae Loxley when the show returned, due to her busy schedule.
However, the actress has now taken to social networking site, Twitter, to conform once and for all that she will indeed be returning, tweeting to followers:
“Don’t worry folks, Mr Selfridge will be back on screen before you know it.
“We start filming series 2 in April!”
“In the meantime, I’ve been shopping in Selfridges this weekend. Just keeping an eye on the store of course!”
This may come as a bit of a blow to Corrie fans as Katherine, who is also set to appear in the Sky Living pilot The Last Witch later this year, had revealed that a return to Coronation Street was not completely off the cards.
Speaking to new! magazine earlier this month, the actress explained she would be open to a soap return, if that soap was Coronation Street:
”If I was going to be in a soap again, I imagine it would be Corrie.
“I’ve always said I’d never rule out a return. I had a great time there. I’d always consider it.”
