Mrs Doyle joins the cast of Shameless!
Fans of Father Ted will undoubtedly recognise Pauline McLynn as Mrs Doyle, housekeeper of Craggy Island’s Parochial House however, we’re about to see the brilliant Pauline in a very different role as a librarian who’s set to become Frank Gallagher’s new love interest in Shameless.
Pauline will portray Libby the librarian who’s passion for romantic literature is said to be going to “awake something in Frank” or perhaps more precisely, little Frank, who, as we know, has been responsible for quite a lot of the population of the Chatsworth Estate…
The future of Shameless was in doubt until fairly recently in that the show’s makers weren’t sure that another run of the show would pay off, however, fortunately, they chose to film another series and so sixteen new episodes are currently in production.
The new series will see some changes – such as Mimi becoming the new landlady of the Jockey – and a few new faces, including Pauline’s as Libby and also Valerie Lilley who’ll portray Libby’s mother, Patty.
I can’t wait!

Oh Gem I cannot believe you find her hilarious. I too am a major fan of shameless. Some of the episodes are absolute ace. That woman is from Ireland and I resent the fact that she gets a publishing contract. Typical Ireland. And I am irish indeed living in Dublin.
