Musical tribute to Sir Jimmy Savile, entitled, How’s About That Then? will debut at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe
The Daily Star reports today that new stage play and musical How’s About That Then? The Jimmy Savile Story, will make its public debut next month.
And of course, it will also chronicle all aspects of Sir Jimmy’s life, from his early career to his death last year from pneumonia.
The show’s producer, Denise Silvey, revealed that the stage play and musical will also feature all of Sir Jimmy’s famous bling, his catchphrases and of course, his trademark cigar.
She said, “It is a homage to Jimmy Savile. It starts with him coming down from Heaven to say: ‘You want to know the story?’
“I think it is fun because he’s quite an unusual sort of character. I think he is loved but there is also mystery around him…
“He has always been part of all of our lives for so long.”
She added, “We have got the cigar, we have got the bling, we’ve got the tracksuits and we have got a Jim’ll Fix It chair that we have had made.”
The production, which stars Garry Roost as Sir Jimmy, was unveiled to a private audience in London last night, but will officially open at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe next month.
The play will feature sequences of children reading letters to Sir Jimmy, but it will not refer to the current DNA row over disputed claims that he had a “love child”.
