On 1 July 1982 more than 4,000 people took part in a mass wedding to partners they had never met before. This bizarre scene shocked the world, but the stunt served its purpose in creating incredible publicity for the religious cult and self-proclaimed “messiah” behind it.

Yet once the publicity died down, what was left for those couples who took part? This documentary reveals what became of some of those Brits, Americans and Europeans who did.
